The University of California, San Francisco, announced having launched a research division in psychedelic studies.

The university received private financing amounting to $6.4 million to kick start operations in the newly launched psychedelics research division.

This private financing was led by multiple donors including, founders of mental health care company COMPASS Pathways Ekaterina Malievskaia and George Goldsmith.

Higher leaning institutions in the United States are starting to engage in psychedelics research and studies. This announcement comes barely a week after another university, The University of Wiscosin, Madison launched a Master’s program in Psychedelic studies.
