Retired American professional boxer Mike Tyson has revealed that psychedelics saved his life at a time when he was on the verge of committing suicide. Although the former world renown heavy weight boxer won almost everything in the ring, he was losing the battle against his mental health.

Everyone thought I was crazy, I bit this guy’s ear off. I did all this stuff, and once I got introduced to the shrooms and my whole life changed,” said Tyson.

According to Tyson, growing up and life in general had its own challenges, however, mental illness rendered him powerless to a point he felt life had lost its meaning and suicide was the only option left for him.

Tyson says the suicidal thoughts led to some of his insanely erratic public behavior. Tyson aged 55 now, credits the hallucinogenic drug for “bringing him back to life” further helping him to shake off the suicidal thoughts from his brain and eventually getting back his boxing career back on track.

It’s scary to even say that. To think where I was almost suicidal to this now. Isn’t life a trip, man? It’s amazing medicine, and people don’t look at it from that perspective,” said Tyson.

Tyson believes that magic mushrooms can make a huge difference on global mental health if given the attention they deserve.

I believe this is good for the world. If you put 10 people in a room that don’t like each other and give them some psychedelics, they’ll be taking pictures with each other. Put 10 people in a room who don’t like each other and give them some liquor, and they’ll be shooting everybody,” added Tyson.
