American actor and rapper Jaden Smith has openly shared his experience with psychedelic substances and the healing properties they possess when it comes to mental health. Jaden made this revelation last week during a red talk table.

In the company of his mother, Jaden talked about the potential benefits of magic mushrooms and psychedelics further citing results of concluded studies to support his argument.

His mother Jada Pinkett Smith, cited a study by Johns Hopekins University which established that psilocybin, a compound found in magic mushrooms, helps relieve major forms of depressions. She said that she was first introduced to psilocybin 10 years ago as a form of therapy to deal with her own depression.

I had struggled with depression for so long. You know, I mean crippling depression. So the thing about plant medicine is that not only does it make you feel better but it helps you solve the problems of how you got there in the first place,” said Jada.

Jada then goes ahead and asks his son what made him start using psychedelics. Jaden responds by explaining how the substance can help bring a significant change in someone’s life if used in the right way under the guidance of certified experts.

It started as pure curiosity. Not believing that mushrooms could actually, like, make you feel any type of way. I had an experience, and during that experience, I understood what ego was for the first time. It was always in my head, talking, telling me what I was and what I wasn’t. And for the first time, I had, like, an ego dissolution where I was like that was the moment that really changed me,” said Jaden.

Jaden claims in one’s life you get to a point which you find yourself dealing with issues such as; inability to express yourself, depression, anxiety, ego issues or even trauma among others. It is such scenarios which Jaden believes psychedelics should come in as the much needed solution.

You get to a place in your life where you’re blocked by something, whether it’s a trauma, whether it’s your emotions, your ego, and not being able to express yourself, and then I feel like psychedelics are a way to tear down that wall and see what’s beyond it,” added Jaden.
